AWANA comes from the first letters of the words, Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). It is an international, Bible-centered programme for kids and teens (www.awana.org).  

Since starting the Awana Clubs here at Calvary in 1991, our goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Depending on their ages, kids join one of three Clubs — Cubbies, Sparks and Truth & Training.

 
The clubbers are taught good character values with emphases on scripture memorisation and personal application. We strive to maintain a caring and loving atmosphere in which spiritual learning is encouraged, where clubbers learn to listen and interact with others. Through fun games, they learn good sportsmanship and team-building. Clubbers are also rewarded for their participation, good behaviour, positive attitude and good efforts through a fun reward system in the form of Awana shares. They may accumulate their shares and purchase fun stuff from the Awana store at each term-end.
